A round, silver medal, the obverse depicting Franz Joseph I, circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse inscribed DER TAPFERKEIT (FOR BRAVERY) within a laurel wreath tied together at the base, unmarked, measuring 40. 26 mm in diameter, weighing 16. 5 grams, on loop for suspension from its period original war time ribbon, and in good fair condition.
